Send Mail to Students or Guardian through Google Mail inside PowerSchool

Description:

Send emails to students/guardians using your Gmail / Google Apps for Education account. This will also keep a history of all the emails sent to the student/guardian.

Contacts in Mass Email: Users will now be able to email contacts using Mass Email
Cross Scripting Error: By default, paste has been defaulted to Paste as text to avoid cross-scripting errors.

Email from Teacher Portal: Teachers will now be able to send emails through Teacher Portal
TinyMCE Fix: Compatible warning message has been fixed by including the latest version of TinyMCE
From Name: From name will automatically be populated with First Name Last Name. This can be changed.

21-Nov-2018:
Fix Email to Teachers(s): Only shows current year teachers instead of all the teachers the student had.

20-Nov-2018:
Email to Teacher(s): Users can now even email student teachers along with their guardians and contacts.

10-Oct-2018:
PS 12+ Contact Flags: User’s will can now see the flags attached to student contacts

Supports PS 12+ Contacts: Users can now email contacts. It will list all the contacts with valid email addresses.

04-Oct-2018:
Smart Text: Users will be able to insert smart text into the email body.
Email Templates: You will be able to set email templates for the user’s to use. You could also include smart text in your email template.
Email Headers (To, Cc, Bcc): Users now can set which email header to use while sending the email.

Installation:

  1. Log in to PowerSchool as an admin and navigate to Plugin Management Dashboard.
  2. Click Install to add the plugin.
  3. Add GmailPlugin.zip file.
  4. Click Install.
  5. Find the plugin “PowerSchool Gmail Plugin” from the list and click the enabled checkbox.

Instructions:

For Google API (Gmail API):

  1. Log in to PowerSchool as an admin and navigate to System >> API Settings (Under AV Google Mail Management)
  2. Follow the steps under “Get Google Client ID and API Key”

For TinyMCE API:

  1. Log in to PowerSchool as an admin and navigate to System >> API Settings (Under AV Google Mail Management)
  2. Follow the steps under “Get TinyMCE Client ID and API Key”

Send Student / Guardian Email (Admin):

  1. Go to Student Profile
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on New Email under the Email header
  3. Click on Authorize to Authorize the PowerSchool with your School Email ID / Any Gmail ID you want to send an email to.

Send Bulk Email (Admin):

  1. Select group of students
  2. Click on Send Mass Email
  3. Click on Authorize to Authorize the PowerSchool with your School Email ID / Any Gmail ID you want to send email to.

Allow Teachers to Email:

  1. Log in to PowerSchool as an admin and navigate to System >> Email Security (Under AV Google Mail Management)
  2. Change “Yes” next to Allow Teachers to Send Email

Send Student / Guardian Email (Teacher):

  1. Go to Student Profile through Backpack / Student ID Icon.
  2. Select New Email from the student screen dropdown.
  3. Click on Authorize to Authorize the PowerSchool with your School Email ID / Any Gmail ID you want to send email to.

Send Bulk Email (Teacher):

  1. Click on the Email Icon next to your class.
  2. Click on Authorize to Authorize the PowerSchool with your School Email ID / Any Gmail ID you want to send email to.

Contacts in Mass Email:

  1. Log in to PowerSchool as an admin and navigate to System >> Bulk Email Student Contact(s) (Under AV Google Mail Management)
  2. Select the contact type which you would like to include in mass email functionality.
